Head Coach – Miriam Bednarik

In 2026, Miriam entered her 16th year as the Head Coach and Owner of Torpedo Swim Team. Her swimming and coaching career has been defined by passion, technical expertise, and dedication to athlete development. 

In 2026, Miriam entered her 16th year as the Head Coach and Owner of Torpedo Swim Team. Her swimming and coaching career has been defined by passion, technical expertise, and dedication to athlete development. Miriam has worked with swimmers at every level and ability, from toddlers learning water safety to competitive high school athletes. Her learn-to-swim curriculum stands out by balancing two key elements: building curiosity and confidence in the water while instilling strong technical fundamentals, which she continues to reinforce as each swimmer grows. Across all levels, Miriam is committed to teaching proper technique while creating a positive environment that inspires a lifelong love for the sport. As an athlete, Miriam has achieved success on the international stage.

Miriam has worked with swimmers at every level and ability, from toddlers learning water safety to competitive high school athletes. As an athlete, Miriam has achieved success on the international stage. Her top achievements include earning 3rd place in the 50 Breaststroke at the 1992 FINA Swimming World Cup in Milan, Italy and 4th place in the 200 Breaststroke at the 1991 European Junior Swimming Championships. After starting a family, she continued competing at a high level. She placed 1st in both the 30–34 age group at the 2012 Chicago Triathlon and in the 200 Breaststroke at the 2013 US Masters National Championships. Miriam brings the insight of an elite competitor and the passion of a dedicated mentor to every practice. Her mission is to help swimmers grow not only as athletes, but as confident, hard-working, resilient individuals.
